The London worktop problem

Getting a kitchen worktop fitted in London shouldn’t feel this hard.

You’ve chosen your kitchen. You know roughly what stone you want. But now you’re stuck in a frustrating loop that most London homeowners know far too well:

  • 01A company quotes you, then subcontracts the actual installation to someone you’ve never met.
  • 02A fitter who handles “all worktop types” — but has never worked with the specific stone you’ve chosen.
  • 03You’re told a delivery date. Then it slips. Then it slips again.
  • 04The seam between your worktop sections is visible, wider than it should be — and no one takes responsibility.
Our answer

Worktop specialists. Only.

Every measurement, every cut, every installation handled in-house by our own team, in our own CNC workshop. Not a module in a bigger job — the job itself.

“Most worktop problems we fix aren’t material failures — they’re fitting failures. Gaps, poor seams, wrong templating. These happen when a general fitter takes on specialist stone work they’re not equipped for.”SY Stone · Founders

Our standard

The seams are invisible — or we don’t consider the job done.

What we fabricate

Every stone we fit — sourced, fabricated and installed by our team

Four core materials, known inside out — from hundreds of hours templating, cutting, and fitting them in real London kitchens.

Quartz

Our most requested material. Non-porous, stain-resistant, low maintenance — ideal for busy family kitchens. Calacatta, Carrara, Taj Mahal and contemporary finishes, with invisible seams, island and waterfall installations.

See Quartz Options

Marble

The statement material. Carrara, Calacatta Gold, Arabescato, Statuario and Silver Wave — with an honest conversation about care and sealing before any deposit is taken.

Granite

Heat-resistant, scratch-resistant, unique in every slab. Including Absolute Black, used in commercial bar installations requiring custom curved tops and multiple sink cut-outs.

Quartzite

Patagonia, Taj Mahal and Mont Blanc — the look of marble with greater durability. We’ve completed multiple Patagonia installations, including a full book-matched kitchen.

Why London chooses us

Why London homeowners choose SY Stone

01

Specialist knowledge, not general building

Everyone who works on your project — from the fitter who templates to the fabricator who cuts — works exclusively with stone. Your worktop is not a module in a bigger job. It is the job.

02

You know exactly what you’re getting, and the cost

No vague estimates, no materials-to-be-confirmed. Written quotes broken down by element. We confirm the slab before cutting, and call if anything changes.

03

Fabricated in our own workshop, not outsourced

100% in-house fabrication means we control every dimension of quality — our CNC machinery, our edge profiling, the same hands that fit the finished slab.

04

Invisible seams are the standard

Precision-matched, colour-blended joins that disappear into the stone’s natural pattern — achievable only with the right equipment and experience. Never an upgrade.

05

Across all of London — we come to you

Hampstead, Chelsea, Kensington, Richmond, Wimbledon and beyond, within the M25. Evening and weekend appointments available. See all areas we cover

06

A workmanship warranty on every job

If a seam fails or a cut-out isn’t aligned, we come back and fix it — at no charge. That’s the standard our name is built on.

Two specialists, one craft

About our expertise

SY Stone was founded on a simple idea: being exceptional at one thing is worth more than being average at many. Between our team, over 15 years of hands-on stone fabrication and installation experience.

One side of the business leads every project from first enquiry to final installation. The other runs the workshop — CNC cutting, edge profiling, and precision jointing. We’re not directors who visit occasionally. We’re the people who show up to your job.

We’ve worked in listed buildings in Chelsea, fitted curved bar tops around structural columns in the West End, and book-matched Patagonia Quartzite so complex the client called her home insurer before we cut.

A typical residential installation is completed in one day. From templating to finished install, the full process takes 5–7 days for standard in-stock materials. For most busy family kitchens, quartz is the better practical choice — non-porous, stain-resistant, no sealing required. Granite is heat-resistant and extremely durable, with unique character in every slab. We advise every client honestly before any decision.
